dear allen

for allen ginsberg

your words formed me
and live with me always
blazoned on my chest
coming into fruition
when epiphanies burst like cosmic light
and a scope of meaning
that's been waiting twenty years
descends upon me –
grasp onto the golden thread
and do not let go,
craftsman

stay the path

in the wee hours of morning
i find a moment that belongs to me
the dog is fed and walked and sleeps on his blue couch
emanating peace
wife still in bed, sleeping
coffee sparks the ignition of my thoughts
before sunlight breaks the day –
a day of toil to come
to pay moloch
but i have this moment of a sleeping dog
pen in my hand, an open page
and priceless knowledge
that my lust for this is unbroken
lust for this life
and these words
