good morning, new day

good morning, new day!
i greet thee
with open arms

sure, chaos is all around me
the world is on fire
democracy in tatters
genocide in plain view –
humanity plagued by
same old demons

same as me –
good morning, personal demons!
i greet thee
with unbridled joy
and lust for life
the fight in me is not diminished
